Bart has survived the unthinkable. After being hit by a car when he was one and a half years old, the people who found him thought he was dead, so they buried him. Five days later, Bart showed up in the neighbor’s yard, very much alive!
The Humane Society of wrote on their blog that Bart had dug out of the grave and gone back home. He was weak, dehydrated, and needed medical help. The staff at the Humane Society Tampa Bay’s Animal Health Center started treating Bart as soon as he arrived.
He had an open facial wound, a broken jaw, and an eye that wasn’t salvageable. Bart is expected to recover from his injuries. A few days after Bart arrived at HSTB, he started to show improvements.
Everyone was thrilled when his appetite came back, and he got up and met the staff at the door. Bart continued to eat, get better, and would take his medications without complaints.
The staff wrote an update on that said Bart was cleaning himself and greeted them with headbutts. Within a couple of weeks, Bart was using his litter box, lounging in the sun, and soaking up the love from staff and volunteers.
Bart is described as friendly, silly, courageous, and affectionate. Bart was adopted and given a permanent home with the foster family who had cared for him! At his new home, Bart has already bonded with his new feline brother and sister.
