Runts of the litter tend to be a natural occurrence for our pets. There’s always one that’s smaller than the rest.
Some people find it adorable, and are eager to provide the tyke with an extra amount of TLC so that they get the chance to thrive just like its siblings.
But there are some runts that end up being too weak and small to even make it through the night.
Meet Peanut. Peanut is a kitten who was born half the size of his brother. That’s extremely small for a kitten, and the owners believe that Peanut was a helpless case.
But they weren’t going to give up on him that easily. It was going to take more than a miracle to help Peanut grow into a strong cat.
What made it difficult for Peanut was that he was born with a cleft palate inside his mouth. This made it extremely difficult for him to nurse from his mother and get the nutrients that he needed in order to grow and thrive.
Bottle feeding didn’t seem to work either, and it was starting to look more and more like he was a hopeless case.
However, his owners decided to tube feed him for the time being so his little tummy could be full.
They continued this treatment until his condition could be fixed, and that’s when his personality started to come through.
Now that he was able to start feeding himself, he was a ravenous little kitten and started to make up all the pounds he had been missing out on for most of his life!
