When neighbors make a call to the police, it’s typically about a noise disturbance. But one phone call ended up saving one dog’s life. When the police in Puerto Rico received a phone call in November about an emaciated dog, they didn’t hesitate to show up at the scene.
There they found Rocco, where he was tethered in the yard without any food and water. It was obvious that he had been there for an extremely long time, as he was emaciated.
They’d received phone calls before about the dog, and it took the issuing of a court order to grant them access to search the property. When they arrived, they discovered that the owners were not at home and decided to take matters into their own hands. The grateful pooch was removed from the premises and was provided with food and medical attention.
He responded well to fluids, and was found negative for both mange and heart worm. That’s definitely a positive, as they meant that he was pretty healthy and just needed to put on a few pounds in order to be adoptable. Thankfully, his abusers were also found and were charged with fines for third degree animal abuse. They were eventually incarcerated when they failed to pay their fines.
Rocco, on the other hand, continues to respond well to treatment and it’s likely that he’ll find a forever home soon when the right, loving owner comes along. Don’t forget to share this post with your friends…
